Home Inspection Frequently Asked Questions

Click a Question below to learn more

  • What is a home inspection?

A home inspection is a visual examination of your home, from the foundation all the way up to the roof. We look at the physical structure of your home to determine if further steps should be taken.

  • Why do I need a home inspection?

Home inspections are required when you are buying a home because they can expose any problems with the house before you make the big purchase. Inspections highlight any necessary repairs, oversights, or maintenance the house needs. If you already own your home, a home inspection can find any problems you may not have been aware of and you can make any repairs.

  • Can my house fail a home inspection?

No, it can’t. Home inspections aren’t based on pass or fail, but rather describe the home’s physical condition and if anything would need repairs or to be replaced.

  • What is mold remediation?

It is the removal/clean up of mold from your home. Mold can cause sickness, allergies, and health hazards to you and your family, so it is critical to have any mold removed from your home.

  • Where does mold grow?

Mold spores need moisture to grow and can grow on any surface in your home, including ceiling tiles, wallpaper, drywall, or insulation. If there is any water leaks and/or humidity, mold will also begin to grow; sometimes mold cannot be seen, so if you suspect there may be mold in your home, it is important to take action to have it removed.

  • Do you offer mold testing?

Yes! Our mold inspection results are available within 48 hours and we will go over the testing results with you. The test samples are carefully analyzed by a nationally recognized laboratory to ensure the results are accurate.

  • What is radon?

Radon is a gas that you can’t see, smell, or taste, meaning that you can’t detect it on your own in your home. It can cause lung cancer and is radioactive. It comes from a breakdown of uranium, which occurs in soil, rocks, and water.

  • Why should I have my house tested for radon?

Since you can’t see, smell, or taste radon, you may not be aware that there is radon in your home. It can enter through cracks and gaps in floors, walls, and pipes. It is a health hazard for you and your family. The EPA has a map of the United States with radon zones; if you live in zone 1, it is highly recommended you have a radon test done on your home.
